Answering Emailed Gardening Questions

Master Gardeners may be able to answer gardening questions from home by making arrangements to have emailed questions forwarded to their computer.

Winter Workshop for the Waterdam Farm Garden Association

This is a community vegetable garden with older adults working the plots. They would like a series of workshops starting February 2007. Some ideas for workshops are Planting and Fertilizing, Insect and Pest Control, etc.

Spring Gardening Seminar 2008

We are looking for Master Gardener speakers for workshops, help organizing, collecting donations for door prizes, etc. There is a lot to be done and we could use the help.

The Washington County Fair 2008

Opportunities abound for Master Gardeners to help at the county fair, scheduled in August, every year. There will be demonstration gardens to plant and tend along with numerous activities once the Fair planning sessions begin.

The Washington County Children's Garden

The Children's Garden (located on North Main Street Extension across from The Washington County Fairgrounds) could often use Master Gardener assistance. Workshops are offered through the growing season.

Camp Agape in Hickory

For spring and summer 2008. We are looking for volunteers to work with kids. You will be teaching them how to start and grow a garden. During the summer, 1-hour workshops will be offered during the week on gardening.

Audio Taping for Radio

Master Gardeners can make audio tapes (usually 3 or 4 minutes long) on various gardening topics for future air time on local radio stations.

Newspaper Articles

Many local newspapers have gardening sections and will accept gardening-related articlces by Master
Gardeners for publication. For examples of past gardening articles, click here.

Bedner's Greenhouse

Monthly workshops (April - October) on a variety of gardening subjects.
